Neil Druckmann: No Promises on The Last of Us Part 3

If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3, brace yourself for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has recently poured cold water on any hopes of a third installment in the beloved video game series. In a detailed interview with Variety, which primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann addressed the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3* with a definitive statement:
“I was waiting for this question,” he said, with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
The question now is whether to take Druckmann's words at face value. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, a new project announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear that *Intergalactic* will occupy the studio for several years, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely not ready to commit to another sequel. Only time will tell if his stance changes or if he's truly finished with the series.
For those still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons will be needed to fully adapt the story of Part 2, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to tell the complete tale.
