Ninja Gaiden 4: A New Era Begins
Developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 marks the series' return after a 13-year hiatus. This direct sequel to Ninja Gaiden 3 retains the series' signature challenging yet rewarding gameplay. The collaboration with PlatinumGames is a significant development, leveraging their expertise in fast-paced action.
A New Protagonist Takes Center Stage
Ninja Gaiden 4 introduces Yakumo, a young ninja from the rival Raven clan, striving to become a Master Ninja. Art Director Tomoko Nishii (PlatinumGames) describes Yakumo as a character designed to stand alongside Ryu Hayabusa, the series' iconic protagonist. Producer and Director Yuji Nakao (PlatinumGames) explains the decision to introduce a new hero: to broaden the game's appeal while ensuring longtime fans remain satisfied. Ryu Hayabusa remains a crucial part of the narrative and is even playable.
Revamped Combat System
Ninja Gaiden 4 boasts lightning-fast, brutal combat, a hallmark of the series. Yakumo's unique fighting style includes the Bloodbind Ninjutsu Nue Style, complementing his Raven Style. Team Ninja assures fans that despite the new protagonist and style, the core Ninja Gaiden experience remains intact. The game is currently 70-80% complete, with the team focusing on polishing.
Release Date and Availability
Ninja Gaiden 4 launches in Fall 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. It will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: A Classic Returns
A remake of the 2008 Xbox 360 classic, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, and is included with Xbox Game Pass. This version features additional playable characters from Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, such as Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel. The remake aims to satisfy both veteran fans and newcomers.
