Nintendo warns against peeling Switch 2 screen protector
Nov 11,2025Author: Natalie
Ahead of Switch 2's launch this week, Nintendo warns owners not to remove the protective screen film.
Nintendo has published Switch 2's health and safety guidelines as a downloadable PDF, featuring detailed "Careful Usage" instructions (via NintendoSoup).
The document contains this notable warning: "The screen includes a protective film layer that prevents glass fragments from scattering if damaged. Do not remove this film."
The adhesive layer serves as an important safety feature - maintaining screen integrity if cracked. Peeled-off film could lead to hazardous glass shards.
When unboxing your Switch 2, exercise caution to preserve this essential protective layer.
Additional Switch recommendations include avoiding use in "dusty or smoky environments" - ruling out club outings or antique bookstore sessions.
Nintendo also advises: "Recharge the built-in battery at least biannually. Prolonged storage without charging may render batteries unusable." Here's hoping your Mario Kart obsession will make this a non-issue.

More obvious warnings cover basics: "Avoid exposing devices to fire, microwaves, direct sunlight, or temperature extremes when handling Switch 2." Sensible advice!
After years of anticipation and leaks, Nintendo will finally release Switch 2 this Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Some eager fans received early Switch 2 shipments last month before the official launch. Unboxing videos and startup sequences briefly surfaced online - until Nintendo's content removal team intervened.
