Nintendo enthusiasts have a new way to stay updated with the launch of the Nintendo Today app, a direct line from the creators of Super Mario Bros. themselves. Revealed by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto at the tail end of the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, this app is now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play, offering a suite of features designed to keep fans in the loop.
Nintendo Today serves as a comprehensive hub, functioning both as a daily calendar and a continuous news feed, delivering the latest updates straight to your mobile device. Following next week's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Miyamoto highlighted that fans can log into the app to stay abreast of all developments, with the promise of "daily" updates thereafter.
This approach offers a more immediate connection than traditional Nintendo Directs, encouraging fans to stay engaged even outside of major announcements. As you open the app each day, you'll be greeted by beloved characters from franchises like Mario, Pikmin, and Animal Crossing, making every log-in feel personal and engaging. The app's feed will not only provide the latest news but also enrich your experience with Nintendo-themed content. Highlights from the Nintendo Direct included a new Pikmin 4 comic, "Too Stuck to Pluck," and "Pearls of Wisdom" from Animal Crossing's Pascal.
While Nintendo Today may not be the blockbuster reveal of a new Zelda or Super Smash Bros. game that many were hoping for, it represents a valuable new resource for fans.
