Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up to produce some fantastic LEGO Nintendo sets. Last year alone saw the release of the impressive, interactive Mario and Yoshi set, along with the first-ever LEGO Legend of Zelda set. While these are excellent, the potential for LEGO sets based on other iconic Nintendo franchises remains largely untapped.
Currently, the market is dominated by a wide array of Mario sets (including Donkey Kong) and a decent selection of Animal Crossing sets. However, many other beloved franchises are absent. The recent Switch 2 announcement fuels anticipation for the next generation of Nintendo products. We can likely expect more LEGO Nintendo sets as Nintendo continues its investment in film (the new Mario movie and the eventual live-action Zelda adaptation) and upcoming Switch games. What franchises do you envision becoming LEGO sets in 2025 and beyond? Share your thoughts in the comments!
Personally, I believe Metroid offers the most exciting potential for LEGO sets. With Metroid Prime 4 on the horizon, it presents a perfect opportunity for impressive builds. Additionally, I'd love to see official LEGO Pokémon sets, rather than the existing MEGA sets, although licensing agreements between Mattel and The Pokémon Company might make this less likely.
