Nintendo's cryptic social media update fuels Nintendo Switch 2 speculation. A recent change to the Japanese Nintendo Twitter banner depicts Mario and Luigi seemingly pointing at a blank space, sparking widespread speculation among gamers. This follows President Shuntaro Furukawa's May 2024 confirmation of the Switch 2's existence, with a promised reveal before March 2025.
The updated banner, featuring the iconic duo seemingly gesturing towards nothingness, has ignited a flurry of online discussion. Reddit users, among others, suggest the empty space acts as a placeholder for the upcoming console. However, the same banner image has been used previously, tempering some enthusiasm.
Previous rumors and leaks, including alleged October 2024 and holiday 2024 reveals, have proven unfounded. These leaks suggested a design similar to the original Switch, with enhanced features and magnetically-connecting Joy-Cons. While these claims remain unverified, they continue to fuel anticipation.
The lack of concrete information surrounding the Switch 2's release date and specifications maintains a high level of uncertainty. Nintendo's strategic silence only intensifies the speculation surrounding this highly anticipated console launch in 2025. The company's cryptic social media moves further add to the mounting excitement.

The potential for backward compatibility with the original Switch's game library remains the only officially confirmed feature. As Nintendo approaches its new fiscal year, the gaming community eagerly awaits the official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2.
