Nintendo's Latest Announcement: It's Not a Switch 2, But Alarmo!

Nintendo recently announced on Twitter (X) that their interactive alarm clock, Alarmo, will enjoy a broader release starting March 2025. This means Alarmo will be readily available at major retailers worldwide, including Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized retailers.

Best of all? The previous requirement of a Nintendo Online membership is being dropped, making it accessible to everyone! Get ready to wake up to fun for $99.99 USD. While many celebrate this news, the anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 remains high, though Nintendo remains silent on the subject.

Nintendo Alarmo: An Instant Hit!

Alarmo's popularity exploded following its October 9, 2024 announcement. Demand was so high in Japan that Nintendo temporarily suspended sales on the My Nintendo Store, shifting to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. A similar situation unfolded in New York City, where the initial stock sold out rapidly.

"We have received a large number of orders for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, which was released on October 9th, so we are currently suspending sales of the product on the My Nintendo Store. In response to this, we are currently preparing to change the sales method at My Nintendo Store to a lottery sale for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, so please wait for a while. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our customers. Furthermore, we will continue to produce the products in order to deliver them to as many customers as possible."

Unboxing the Fun: Nintendo Alarmo Features

Alarmo, launched in 2024, isn't your average alarm clock. It features delightful sound effects and visuals from beloved Nintendo games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3. Choose from 42 charming scenes (with more to come via free updates!), featuring your favorite characters.

When the alarm sounds, your chosen character will gently wake you. A visitor will then appear, and you can simply wave your hand or move to quiet the alarm. Persistent sleepers will encounter a more "persuasive" visitor and a more insistent sound! The motion sensor allows you to silence the alarm without touching it.

Beyond its fun wake-up call, Alarmo offers hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking. For those sharing their bed with others or pets, the Button Mode is recommended. While initially requiring a Nintendo Online membership, this restriction will be removed with the wider release.
