"Oblivion Remastered Retains Iconic Line Flub"

May 05,2025 Author: Carter

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings a fresh take on one of Bethesda's landmark titles, enhancing visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, the team at Virtuos made sure to preserve one of the original game's most cherished quirks.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series are well-acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first hit the shelves for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it became evident that Tandilwe's speech could use some refinement. One of her voice lines famously includes a blooper where actress Linda Kenyon can be heard attempting the line again, a mistake that has since become legendary among fans.

As players embarked on their journey through the revamped world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how true the remaster stayed to the original. While numerous environments, character models, and items have been beautifully updated, fans have been delighted to discover that many of the original game's charming imperfections remain. Tandilwe’s iconic blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned to the delight of many.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon, upon learning about the blooper's fame, humorously remarked, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl around whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, many are simply thrilled to see that much of the original game's quirky charm has been preserved. This was a deliberate choice by Bethesda and Virtuos, and it appears to be resonating well with both new and returning players.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was surprise-launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S yesterday.
