The Axum Observatory is a colossal underwater edifice situated far to the east of Subnautica 2's map. Reaching it requires navigating through the scorching temperatures of the hot biome before entering the Karakorum region, which is guarded by a fearsome Collector Leviathan.
Upon arrival at the Observatory, you will discover an intriguing puzzle involving an Axum Door that remains sealed for now. The game offers minimal guidance on what is required to unlock it. We are here to help.
This guide details how to open the Axum Door in the Observatory in Subnautica 2, along with tasks inside the structure itself. This quest involves upgrading your Sonic Resonator, clearing several Bloom infestation sites, obtaining the final Adaptation, and interfacing with alien technology. Let's explore each step.
How to open the Axum Door
To unlock the Axum Door, you must first repair and restart the Axum Power Plant located east of the Observatory. This ancient alien facility has been dormant for a long time but can be restored once you acquire the Axum Vision Adaptation.
After restoring power to the plant, return to the Observatory Door to open it, granting access to the final section of the game (in its current Early Access version).
Follow these steps to unlock the Observatory Axum Door:
- Scan two Feedback Resonator Fragments.
- Craft the Feedback Resonator.
- Destroy the first Bloom Site.
- Destroy the second Bloom Site.
- Destroy the third Bloom Site.
- Obtain the Axum Vision Adaptation.
- Activate the Lower Control Room.
- Activate the Upper Control Room.
- Scan the Power Plant Turbine.
- Gather 10x Titanium Ingots, 10x Mangalloy Ingots, and 10x Strontium.
- Repair the Power Plant Turbine.
- Activate the Power Plant.
- Open the Axum Door in the Observatory.
- Scan the Orrery.
- Activate the upstairs panel.
- Return home and speak with NoA.
Recommended - Unlock the Tadpole Depth Module first!
While optional, unlocking the first Depth Module for your Tadpole is highly advised. This enables piloting up to 450 meters deep, significantly speeding up travel. You can find the recipe data card at the bottom of the Needler Nest cave, approximately 300 meters from the Research Outpost at a bearing of 165 degrees (depth 295m). Once obtained, craft it using a Modification Station with 3x Celestine, 2x Enameled Glass, and 1x System Chip.
