New ME-Style Game "Osiris Reborn" Features Romance

Owlcat Games has unveiled The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, an immersive action RPG set in the acclaimed sci-fi universe of the TV series. The developer behind acclaimed CRPGs like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous makes a bold transition into cinematic sci-fi action with this ambitious project.

The game features an over-the-shoulder perspective with tactical cover shooting, class abilities, party management, and companion relationships - drawing clear inspiration from classic space operas while maintaining Owlcat's signature narrative depth. Series fans will recognize returning cast members voicing familiar characters, though specific names remain undisclosed.

A Mercenary's Journey Through The Belt

Players assume the role of a Pinkwater Security operative trapped during Eros Station's catastrophic lockdown. As the story unfolds, you'll assemble a crew, take command of a spacecraft, and navigate the treacherous politics of the solar system.

"This project represents our long-held ambition to create a cinematic sci-fi RPG," explained Creative Director Alexander Mishulin. "The Expanse's grounded, politically-charged universe aligns perfectly with our commitment to meaningful choice and complex characterization."

Game Design Producer Yuliya Chernenko acknowledged the Mass Effect trilogy's influential legacy: "Those games defined a generation of sci-fi RPGs. We're honoring that foundation while pushing forward with hard sci-fi authenticity, modern combat mechanics, and the deep moral dilemmas that define The Expanse."

Like its spiritual predecessors, Osiris Reborn lets players create custom captains (choosing between Earther, Martian, or Belter origins) and manage crew relationships with impactful consequences. Combat combines real-time tactical positioning with ability management, accompanied by two active squadmates with others providing mission support.

Exploring Iconic Expanse Locations

Fans will traverse familiar settings including the domed cities of Ganymede, Ceres Station, and Martian parliamentary halls. The narrative occurs parallel to events from the show's early seasons and the original book trilogy, offering new perspectives on beloved lore.

While currently undated, Owlcat confirms the game will launch on PC via Steam, Epic, and GOG alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Despite concurrent work on Warhammer 40K projects, the studio emphasizes that Osiris Reborn benefits from a dedicated development team separate from other titles.
