Overwatch 2 Unveils Exclusive Events in China

Overwatch 2 is set to make a grand return to China on February 19, coinciding with the start of Season 15. Chinese players will have the opportunity to earn rewards from Seasons 1 through 9, including Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the official relaunch, and Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events post-relaunch. The return promises a wealth of exciting in-game events, ensuring that the Chinese Overwatch 2 community can dive back into Future Earth with plenty to look forward to.

The announcement of Overwatch 2's return was accompanied by a technical test from January 8 to 15, allowing fans to experience content they missed, such as Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes added since the game's servers in China were shut down during Season 2. Following the test, game director Aaron Keller shared on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote) details about a multi-week Return to China celebration. This celebration will feature popular in-game events and rewards from the past two years, providing a warm welcome back for Chinese players.

Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?

In an exciting reveal, Aaron Keller announced that Overwatch 2 Season 15 will feature skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While specifics remain under wraps, it's unclear whether these will be new or existing skins, or if they'll be exclusive to China. There's also speculation about whether these skins might be part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15, similar to how Season 14 was themed around Norse mythology.

Players won't have to wait long for more information, as Season 15 is scheduled to begin on February 18, just before the game's official relaunch in China. With the new season just over a month away, fans can expect detailed reveals to start rolling out in early February.

In the meantime, global fans can participate in the second 6v6 test, Min 1, Max 3, from January 21 through February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are slated to occur before Season 15, adding to the anticipation. While Chinese players won't be able to join these events, they have their own special celebrations to look forward to upon the game's return.
