Persona 4 Remake: Will It Be Persona 4 Reload?

Following the successful launch of *Persona 3: Reload*, fans are buzzing with anticipation for a potential remaster of *Persona 4*. Recent developments have sparked excitement, suggesting that a *Persona 4* remake could be on the way. Dive into the details below to see what we know so far.

Has Persona 4 Already Been Remade?

The *Persona* community was set abuzz when popular *Persona* YouTuber ScrambledFaz shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting that the domain "p4re.jp" was registered on March 20th. Interestingly, the domain "p3re.jp" was registered just a few months before the announcement of *Persona 3: Reload*. This has led many fans to speculate that a *Persona 4* remake might be in the works.

The original *Persona 4* was released in 2008, exclusively for PlayStation 3 and 4. In 2012, *Persona 4 Golden* hit the shelves, bringing a full port to the PlayStation Vita and PC. This version included updated graphics and new content, such as an entirely new town and a fan-favorite character, Marie, who added a romantic subplot to the game.

However, *Persona 4 Golden* should not be confused with a full-scale remake. Like *Persona 3 Portable*, which came out in 2009 and was tailored for the PSP with a new protagonist and the addition of Theodore in the Velvet Room, *Persona 4 Golden* made significant enhancements but fell short of the comprehensive overhaul seen in *Persona 3: Reload*.

What Would a Persona 4 Remake Look Like?

Should the rumored *Persona 4* remake follow in the footsteps of *Persona 3: Reload*, fans have much to look forward to. The 2008 visuals of *Persona 4* are undeniably charming, yet a remake would bring them into the modern era with refreshed character portraits and enhanced animations for cut scenes.

Beyond the visual upgrades, a remake could introduce additional side quests and deepen character interactions, allowing players to further enrich their social links. *Persona 4 Golden* introduced Okina City, offering new activities like visiting the cinema or the coffee shop. A remake could expand on this, adding even more depth to the city and its inhabitants.

When Should We Expect a Persona 4 Remake?

In 2024, a reputable Sega leaker confirmed that a *Persona 4* remake is in development, though it may still be some time before its release. If we look at the timeline for *Persona 3: Reload*, an announcement could be as soon as June, mirroring the reveal of *Persona 3: Reload* at the Xbox Summer Showcase in June 2023.

Amidst this excitement, Atlus has been teasing news about *Persona 6* for years. With nearly a decade passing since *Persona 5*, anticipation for *Persona 6* is high, yet there's no confirmed release date. The prospect of a *Persona 4* remake has some fans worried it might delay *Persona 6* further, especially since *Persona 6* is rumored to have been in development for years. While some argue that *Persona 4* doesn't need a remake, the hope is that any new project won't significantly hinder the progress of *Persona 6*.

That covers everything we know so far about the potential *Persona 4* remake, tentatively titled *Persona 4 Reload*. Stay tuned for more updates as they come!
