Survival of the Fittest stands as Phasmophobia's most demanding challenge yet, stripping away crucial gameplay elements. Players must identify the ghost without standard evidence while battling permanent zero sanity from the start.
This challenge unfolds at 42 Edgefield Road, a cramped house map designed to maximize tension. Its narrow corridors and limited visibility significantly increase the difficulty of ghost tracking and evasion.
Essential Strategies for Survival of the Fittest
The challenge imposes strict limitations: standard evidence tools like Ghost Writing Books and DOTs Projectors are unavailable. Even standard surveillance tools like Video Cameras are missing from your equipment loadout.

Successful identification requires analyzing ghost behaviors - movement patterns, unique sounds, and visual characteristics. Your limited equipment still provides crucial ghost-hunting tools when used strategically.
The Parabolic Microphone can detect Banshee screams or Myling noise patterns. Salt reveals Wraith activity, while triple Firelight tests indicate Onyro presence. For comprehensive behavior analysis, consult our no-evidence ghost characteristics guide.

This nightmare scenario begins with almost no preparation time and permanent zero sanity, making hunts constant threats. The two included Sanity Medications offer no actual restoration - simply developer humor emphasizing the challenge's brutality.
While evidence collection proves difficult, heightened ghost activity provides alternative identification opportunities. Frequent paranormal events offer behavioral clues, and though the ghost roams freely, its favorite room remains constant throughout the investigation.
Most doors spawn partially open, complicating ghost tracking. However, the functional fuse box provides rare advantages in challenges. All nine Edgefield hiding spots remain available for emergency protection during hunts.

Your sole Cursed Possession, the Monkey Paw, offers risky but valuable assistance. Wishing for knowledge eliminates incorrect ghost types from your journal, though the wish triggers blindness, deafness, and immediate cursed hunts - best attempted in multiplayer with a sacrificial teammate.
This high-risk strategy comes with severe penalties. The temporary sensory deprivation and immediate cursed hunt make solo attempts particularly dangerous, warranting team coordination for success.
Accessing Weekly Challenge Mode

Weekly Challenges appear in the Difficulty Settings menu. After choosing Singleplayer or Multiplayer, access difficulties above your character ID. Scroll to find Challenge Mode and apply it for your next investigation.
Remember to manually select the designated map (42 Edgefield Road for this challenge) from the Maps board. Challenge Mode doesn't automatically set the location, requiring this extra step before starting your investigation.
Full rewards ($5,000 base) require completing three successful challenges. Simply correct ghost identification counts toward completion - no additional objectives needed.
