The ESRB rating for Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, slated for a September release, reveals a key detail: Princess Zelda's debut as the main protagonist will also feature Link as a playable character.
Zelda and Link: A Dual Protagonist Adventure
The ESRB listing confirms both Zelda and Link are playable. The game, rated E 10+, is free of microtransactions. The description highlights Zelda's quest to mend rifts across Hyrule and rescue Link. Gameplay mechanics include Link's sword and arrows, and Zelda's magic wand to summon creatures like wind-up knights and slime. Combat involves fire-based attacks and enemies dissolving into mist upon defeat.
This marks a pivotal moment for the Zelda franchise, showcasing Princess Zelda as the lead for the first time. The game's announcement generated significant anticipation, becoming a top wishlisted title following its summer showcase reveal.
The extent of Link's playable sections remains undisclosed. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches September 26th, 2024.
Hyrule Edition Switch Lite: Pre-Orders Open!
To coincide with the game's release, Nintendo offers the Zelda-themed Hyrule Edition Switch Lite for pre-order. This special edition, priced at $49.99, features a golden design, the Hyrule crest, and a Triforce symbol. Note that the game itself is not included; however, it bundles a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
