In my view, the strength of this set lies in its seamless integration of art and gameplay. It doesn't feel forced. Cards like Blastoise ex not only boast impressive abilities but also showcase artwork worthy of a gallery. Even Charmander has seen an upgrade, now with 70 HP—a subtle yet significant change that can protect it from chip damage that would have otherwise knocked out its weaker counterparts. This careful balance encapsulates much of what makes this set special.

Not every card is a home run. Zapdos ex, for instance, is functional but lacks the flair that makes other cards stand out. Nonetheless, the overall quality remains high. Venusaur ex strikes a perfect balance between function and style, while Squirtle's artwork manages to place a cartoon turtle convincingly within an ecosystem. The attention to detail in these designs is commendable.
While paying above MSRP isn't ideal, it's difficult to overlook the value this set offers. If you're on the hunt for packs that are genuinely enjoyable to open and offer a real chance at high-value pulls, the Pokémon 151 set remains one of the better options.
