A Tale of Woven Fates and a Mother's Disappearance

Launching April 8th, 2025, South of Midnight plunges players into the mystical town of Prospero. Narrative Designer Zaire Lanier revealed a story centered around Hazel, who, after a hurricane destroys her home and separates her from her mother, discovers her own magical abilities as a "Weaver." This revelation thrusts her into a world teeming with fantastical creatures from Southern myths and legends.

Hazel's encounter with Catfish, a colossal talking creature, unveils her power to manipulate the "threads" that connect all things. However, her journey is fraught with peril, as she must confront corrupted beings known as Haints, restoring balance to the world.

Early access begins April 3rd, 2025, with the Premium Edition ($49.99) on Steam and the Xbox Store. The standard edition is priced at $39.99, and Game Pass subscribers can play on launch day.

Gameplay: Weaving Magic and Combat

Game Director Jasmin Roy highlighted the core combat mechanics. Hazel utilizes a unique "Weaving" magic system, employing spells like "Push," "Pull," and "Weave" for tactical combat advantages. Her tools—a spindle, weaving hooks, and a distaff—provide diverse combat options.
