In a social media update, the developer confirmed GTA 6 Trailer 2 was recorded “entirely in-game” on a PS5, blending equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.

Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.
This revelation makes GTA 6 even more remarkable. The trailer’s visuals are strikingly detailed, and we now know they run on a console that’s five years old. By GTA 6’s release on May 26, 2026, the PS5 will be over five-and-a-half years old.
Rockstar’s skilled developers are working their magic again, but their mention of gameplay in Trailer 2 raises curiosity about which scenes are which. Fans have already spotted a likely transition from cutscene to gameplay when Jason enters his apartment.
