Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a MinnMax interview. While she didn't elaborate on specifics, the confirmation clarifies previous reports. The Xbox Series S version, as previously announced, will remain capped at 30fps.
Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes (60fps with lower visuals vs. 30fps with enhanced visuals) remains unconfirmed. It's unclear if the 60fps target on the Series X is the default setting or a selectable option.
The game's release date presents a unique pricing structure. Early access begins February 13th for those purchasing the premium edition ($89.99), while the standard edition ($69.99) launches on February 18th. This staggered release strategy, though employed by some publishers, is already being abandoned by others, such as Ubisoft.
Set within the Pillars of Eternity universe, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice and impactful decisions. Players will unravel mysteries, forge alliances, and navigate a world steeped in war and intrigue.
