The highly acclaimed TV series adaptation of The Last of Us has been greenlit for a third season even before the second season has begun. But what about a fourth season? Showrunner Craig Mazin has hinted that a fourth season is nearly indispensable for the series to fully adapt the narrative from the two video games developed by Naughty Dog.
In a conversation with Collider, Mazin acknowledged that attempting to wrap up the story in just three seasons would be overly ambitious, stating that Season 3 "would take forever" to complete. He suggested that while Season 3 might extend beyond the length of Season 2, it would still be insufficient to conclude the entire saga.
Mazin elaborated, expressing hope that the series would continue to resonate with audiences, saying, "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome."
