"Silent Hill f Scores First 18+ Rating in Japan"

Silent Hill f has become the first installment in the series to receive Japan's highest age rating of CERO Z (18+).

The Japanese reveal trailer released last night confirms Silent Hill f carries an M rating in North America, PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO Z certification in Japan.

While ratings may evolve during ongoing development, industry outlet Automaton notes previous Japanese-developed Silent Hill titles (including Silent Hill 2 and The Room) held CERO C ratings (15+), with international entries typically landing CERO C or D (17+) classifications.

This marks a significant shift - even Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake retained Japan's more lenient CERO C rating despite carrying Mature (17+) ratings internationally.

Konami's latest Silent Hill Transmission showcase focused exclusively on Silent Hill f, positioning it as the franchise's first mainline horror entry in 13 years.

Initially revealed in 2022, the game transports players to 1960s Japan, following teenager Hinako Shimizu's psychological struggles amidst societal pressures. The narrative comes from Ryukishi07, famed for the When They Cry visual novel series.

The trailer depicts Hinako's deteriorating mental state through visceral imagery - bloody wounds, torn school uniforms, and disturbing transformations. While primarily cinematic, it offers glimpses of the game's unsettling monster designs and a floral-themed Otherworld that replaces the franchise's signature rust-and-metal aesthetic.

Konami has yet to announce Silent Hill f's release window, and provided no updates on No Code's parallel project, Silent Hill: Townfall.
