Next month, 22 games will be removed from the PlayStation Plus library, including notable titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms. It offers free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, it provides a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members.
As reported by Push Square, the removal of these 22 games on May 20 includes two significant first-party Sony PS3 games, both of which are set to leave the PS Plus Premium library.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 is particularly noteworthy because these games are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store. This makes the PS Plus Premium streaming service the last remaining option to play them, unless you own both games and a functional PS3. Both titles are being removed less than a year after their addition to the library at the end of 2024.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, consists of alternate history first-person shooters. Following their work on the Ratchet and Clank series, Insomniac released three Resistance games for the PS3 before shifting focus to other projects, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it's unusual for Sony to remove first-party games from the service, it's not unprecedented. This was demonstrated by the unexpected removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those games remained available for purchase even after their removal, unlike Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which will now be inaccessible on modern consoles.
It's interesting to note that Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the more recent first-party PS4 game InFamous: Second Son is also set to leave PS Plus.
The Insomniac-developed Resistance series has been inactive for some time. In February, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price disclosed a strong effort to develop Resistance 4, but the project did not receive approval. Similar to Horizon developer Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been sidelined.
