Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation

Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance and subsequent confirmation for a new Star Wars film.

Isaac's past comments on returning to the franchise have been varied. While initially expressing reluctance, stating in 2020 that he'd only return for "another house or something," he later softened his stance, telling Variety in 2022 that he was "open to anything." He has, however, been vocal about his disappointment with Disney's rejection of his proposed romance between Poe and Finn (John Boyega's character). Boyega himself has also expressed mixed feelings about his Sequel Trilogy experience but remains open to future roles.

This renewed speculation centers around the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has publicly expressed her desire for Boyega's return, and the inclusion of Poe, the final member of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio, would seem a natural progression.

However, definitive answers may remain elusive for some time. Disney's repeated delays of numerous announced Star Wars projects have pushed back the potential release date of the Rey film (directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy) to a tentative December 17, 2027, at the earliest. Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer some clues, but fans will likely face a considerable wait for concrete news.
