DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting in May 2025, bringing acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott back to DC. Slott, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity, previously contributing to titles like Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures.

Superman Unlimited pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott states, “He’s the first and greatest superhero, and I’ve waited my whole life to tell his stories…Rafael Albuquerque and I are going to take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes too. Whether you're a lifelong fan or a newcomer, this is the perfect jumping-on point.”
The series introduces a perilous new reality for Superman. A Kryptonite asteroid shower arms Intergang and other foes with Kryptonite-based weapons, forcing Superman to develop new technology and tactics. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia giant after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.
DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares Superman Unlimited to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Superman/Batman from the early 2000s, highlighting its scope and impact on the broader Superman mythos. He describes a world where even petty crimes utilize Kryptonite weaponry, presenting an unprecedented challenge for Superman and his allies. Kaminski contrasts this with the Justice League Unlimited series, emphasizing the focus on super-villains empowered by the widespread Kryptonite.
