SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Emio: The Smiling Man’, ‘Gundam Breaker 4’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Jan 06,2025 Author: Evelyn

Hello gaming enthusiasts, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Roundup for August 29th, 2024! Today's update brings a bumper crop of new game releases, forming the core of this Thursday's column. We'll also explore a substantial list of new sales. Let's dive into the gaming action!

Featured New Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club returns after a long hiatus! This latest installment stays true to its predecessors, for better or worse. A fresh mystery awaits, presented in a style reminiscent of the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack the case of the latest serial killings? My review is coming soon.

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's comprehensive review provides an in-depth look at Gundam Breaker 4's gameplay and Switch performance. In short, you build and battle Gunplas. While the Switch version naturally lags behind others in performance, it's still a solid experience. Read Mikhail's insightful review for a complete picture.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its string of successful remakes. Following Wild Guns Reloaded, The Ninja Saviors, and Pocky & Rocky, they tackle an 8-bit classic. This differs more significantly from its source than their previous titles. However, fans of classic action-platformers will find much to enjoy. My review drops early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A departure from the original Valfaris, this 2.5D side-scrolling shooter offers a different experience. While the genre shift may surprise some, it's a solid entry in its own right. My review is on its way.

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

I'll admit, I'm a little unsure about this one. The food visuals are stunning, but the gameplay remains a mystery. Is it about photography, exploration, or uncovering hidden elements? Perhaps Mikhail can shed some light on this unique title.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

For monster truck enthusiasts, Monster Jam Showdown delivers. Featuring local and online multiplayer, various modes, and plenty of content, it's a decent option despite mixed reception on other platforms.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

A potential remake of the original WitchSpring, this installment boasts improved visuals. While previously a budget-friendly alternative to Atelier games, its higher price point may give some pause.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

An underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror twist. Investigate the disappearance of your crew in a dangerous, interconnected underwater world. Combat is involved. This title has gained positive feedback on other platforms.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

A farming and action game with a unique premise: a vegan vampire rebelling against his father. While I'm currently fatigued by the genre, those with more enthusiasm might find it appealing.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A marble roller game with 70 stages and 80 marbles to collect. Features secret collectibles and challenges.

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A kid-friendly firefighting game with 20 missions.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A hoverboarding cat slices and dices foes in this grotesque action game. The Switch version reportedly suffers from technical issues.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A 1985 Konami vertical shooter where you control a transforming robot.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early expansion pack featuring the debut of Yuzo Koshiro.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A horror/survival/roguelite game with online multiplayer support (up to 10 players).

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where you are a sentient tin can dealing with worms.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

Two NES-style microgames with a ninja theme and local multiplayer.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A dice-based puzzle game with Tetris-style and wood block puzzle modes.
