Tales of the Shire is scheduled to launch on July 29, 2025. Initially planned for 2024, Wētā Workshop shifted the release to March 2025, then to July, as announced on X. This marks the game’s second release date and third release window.
The simultaneous release of PC and console versions likely contributes to the delays. Wētā’s February 2025 statement emphasized extra time needed to polish Tales of the Shire across platforms. Unlike The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, which saw a staggered 2023 release, Tales of the Shire aims for a unified launch.
Return to Moria faced delays due to late-added console ports, stretching resources thin. In contrast, Wētā and Private Division planned Tales of the Shire for cross-platform release from the start, avoiding similar issues despite multiple delays.
