TennoCon 2024 delivered a massive surprise: Warframe: 1999, a thrilling new update set in a retro-futuristic 1999. Get ready for a wild ride through a Techrot-infested city teetering on the brink of a Y2K apocalypse!

This expansive update begins with an August 2024 prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," reuniting players with a beloved Warframe character and setting the stage for the main event. This prologue introduces Sevatgoth Prime and their exclusive weaponry. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" (and all preceding quests) is mandatory to access Warframe: 1999, slated for release in Winter 2024.

Warframe: 1999 plunges players into the alternate 1999 of Höllvania, a vibrant 90s city corrupted by the deadly Techrot virus. Navigate this retro landscape using the new Atomicyles, futuristic vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers. Leading the charge is the Hex, a team of six heroes, each sporting a Protoframe – a Warframe design showcasing the human beneath.

The Hex boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Interact with them via in-game instant messaging for a truly authentic 1999 experience.

Prepare for a face-off against On-lyne, a 90s boy band turned Technocyte-infected foes, fronted by the charismatic Zeke (voiced by Nick Apostolides). Their infectiously catchy music, including the hit single "Party of Your Lifetime," will be available on major streaming platforms.

Fashion is key! Warframe: 1999 introduces dual fashion frame loadouts and the revolutionary Gemini Skins, allowing players to bring Protoframes like Arthur and Aoi into the Origin System. These skins feature fully voiced dialogue, adding depth to combat and operator interactions.

Beyond the core gameplay, Digital Extremes is collaborating with THE LINE animation studio on a 1999-themed anime short. Additionally, high-fidelity Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) are on the way.
