Umamusume: Pretty Derby is galloping towards its English release, set to launch globally on June 26, 2025. The announcement came via Cygames' official Twitter (X) account on April 27, with pre-registrations kicking off the very next day on April 28.
Originally launched in Japan on February 24, 2021, for iOS, Android, and PC, the game introduces a unique concept where legendary racehorses are reborn as "horse girls" or "Umamusume." These characters, who resemble high school girls but possess the ears, tails, and athletic prowess of horses, attend Tokyo's Tracen Academy. Here, they train to achieve their dreams of becoming top racers and idols.
The game's Steam page promises an immersive sports life simulation, featuring an in-depth training system and stunning 3D graphics. Players can scout and train over 20 different Uma Musumes, participate in races, and showcase their talents in performances, all facilitated by the game's gacha system.
PocketGamer.biz highlighted in March 2025 that the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby amassed over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its first year alone. With the English release, Cygames aims to replicate this phenomenal success worldwide.
