Mastering the Staff of Ice Upgrade in Black Ops 6 Zombies
The Staff of Ice, a unique Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, starts weak but transforms into a high-round powerhouse. This guide details its upgrade process on The Tomb map.

Before upgrading, acquire the Staff of Ice itself, either from the Mystery Box or by assembling its three parts. Early access to the Dark Aether Nexus (via the Door to Nowhere) is crucial.
Upgrade Steps:
Step 1: Freezing Dark Aether Crystals
Freeze three Dark Aether Crystals rapidly using the Staff of Ice. These crystals reside in underground lanterns (black frame, purple glow). Perks like Stamin-Up and PHD Flopper (with Tribologist) significantly aid this step. Optimize your route; prioritize the crystals in the tomb area, Shrine of the Hierophants, and Subterranean Temple entrance. Archibald's quote confirms success. Enter the Dark Aether Nexus.
Step 2: Targeting Floating Runes
Within the Dark Aether Nexus, locate three floating rocks with glowing purple Runes. Shoot each Rune with the Staff of Ice (a hitmarker confirms success). This lowers the rocks, improving Rune visibility. A sniper rifle might assist aiming. The order is irrelevant; hit all three.
Step 3: The Rune Symbol Puzzle
A stone wall replaces a portal in the main map. Locate the corresponding area. Shoot the three Runes on the wall matching the symbols from the floating rocks. The portal opens (regardless of correctness). Incorrect symbols teleport you back to the Nexus, potentially mid-air. Try again later if necessary. Correct symbols lead to a floating rock and a purple orb. Interact with the orb.
Step 4: Orb Escort and Upgrade
The Orb moves; kill zombies near it to fuel its progress. The Orb's purple trail shows the effect. Keep killing to guide it to the central Nexus structure. Interact with the resulting purple portal to upgrade the Staff of Ice to Ull's Arrow.

Ull's Arrow boasts a powerful charged AoE attack and an alternate fire for reviving downed teammates, similar to its Origins counterpart.
