Playism's upcoming release, Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double, offers a unique blend of FMV and augmented reality gameplay. Players step into the shoes of an outsider investigating the disappearance of a YouTuber specializing in urban legends.
The game uses AR to overlay FMV actors onto real-world environments captured through your phone's camera. This unusual approach, while quirky, presents a creative twist on the FMV genre. You'll encounter Rain, Shou, and Tangtang, fellow YouTubers, as you unravel the mystery surrounding doubles and doppelgangers.
While not aiming for a high-brow psychological thriller, Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double embraces the inherent cheesiness often associated with FMV horror. This playful approach to the genre makes it a title worth watching, even if the exact release date (sometime this winter) remains unclear.
The game's unconventional mix of AR and FMV offers an intriguing concept. Although expectations for deep narrative should be tempered, the inherent camp factor inherent in FMV horror could make this a surprisingly fun experience.
