World of Warcraft: How To Start Dalaran Epilogue & Undermine Prologue Quests

The narrative of World of Warcraft: The War Within continues. Beyond the Siren Isle update, Season 2 is anticipated in late 2025, introducing new endgame content and the next chapter of this expansion. However, Patch 11.0.7 introduces several story quests setting the stage for Patch 11.1, focusing on the Goblin capital, Undermine. A separate questline concludes the tragic destruction of Dalaran, though it wasn't immediately available upon patch launch.

Updated January 7, 2025, by Paul Woodward: The recent campaign quests mark a significant turning point. Dalaran, a long-standing location in Warcraft lore, may not recover from the events of The War Within. The Dalaran Epilogue questline provides closure to this storyline and a fitting farewell to a crucial social hub in Wrath of the Lich King and Legion.

Spoilers ahead, read with caution.

How to Begin the Patch 11.1 Prologue

Unlike the Dalaran Epilogue, the "Lingering Shadows" campaign is immediately accessible. Completion of the leveling or Level 80 campaigns isn't required. However, completing prior storylines is recommended to avoid spoilers and enhance understanding. The "Lingering Shadows" campaign comprises:

  • Lingering Shadows
  • Price of a Mission
  • Standing in the Way
  • No Breathing Room
  • Together, Alone
  • The Voice
  • Ringing in the Deeps
  • Good Help These Days
  • Hey, What's Going On?
  • Haywired and Hostile
  • Built to Blast
  • Bat Versus World
  • Found Friends

After "Found Friends," speak with Orweyna. Her quest, while not part of the main campaign, offers insights into potential future plot developments within The War Within or other World Soul Saga expansions.

Initiating the Dalaran Epilogue in World of Warcraft: The War Within

Initially, a three-week delay was implemented for the Dalaran Epilogue. As of January 7th, this restriction has been lifted. To unlock this campaign, complete both the leveling campaign and the Level 80 campaign (requiring Renown Four with all four Khaz'algar factions).

If unsure about your progress, visit Foundation Hall (the prologue quest starting point for Patch 11.1). If Khadgar is present (after January 7th), a quest will be available. His absence indicates unfinished campaign quests. The Dalaran Epilogue quest list is below:

Dalaran Epilogue Quest List

  • Survivor's Guilt
  • The Hardest Part
  • Arcane Wasteland
  • Lessons in Defensive Magic
  • Feeling Blue
  • Magic-Stealing Kobolds
  • Trinkets, Curios, and Other Powerful Objects
  • Mysterious Necklace (Near Kalecgos; look for a Kobold in a magical field.)
  • Maybe You Shouldn't Touch That
  • Trapped Between Life and Death
  • Somehow We Survived
  • A Helping Hand
  • Arcane Cold War
  • Critical Mass
  • Preserve the Legacy
  • Too Powerful, Too Dangerous
  • Farewell, City of Magic

Completing this campaign unlocks the "Fate of the Kirin Tor" achievement and the "Witness of the Kirin Tor" title.
