Four months after winning the Best Screenplay award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it earned a remarkable 13-minute standing ovation, Coralie Fargeat's body horror satire, The Substance, hit US theaters. Since its release, the film has garnered numerous awards and nominations, including five Oscar nods. Featuring the now Oscar-nominated performances of Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, IGN's 8/10 review praised The Substance for its "indictment of celebrity culture's obsession with youth and beauty in a sick, twisted, and squirm-inducing parable."
