Google Unveils 2024's Top Apps, Games, and Books
Google recently announced its prestigious Google Play Awards 2024, recognizing the year's best in mobile apps, games, and books. While some winners were anticipated, others came as a pleasant surprise. Let's delve into the complete list of victors.
Game Category Highlights:
Best Game: AFK Journey, a fantasy RPG from Farlight and Lilith Games, claimed the top prize. Its expansive world, stunning visuals, and epic battles, featuring a large roster of characters, impressed Google's judges. The win for an "Away From Keyboard" (AFK) idle game is noteworthy.
Best Multi-Device Game: Supercell's Clash of Clans secured this award, thanks to its expansion beyond mobile to PCs and Chromebooks. Players can now enjoy raiding, building, and clan dominance across multiple platforms.
Best Multiplayer Game: Supercell's Squad Busters took the win in this category.
Best Pick Up & Play Game: NetEase Games' Eggy Party earned this recognition for its immediately accessible gameplay.
Best Story: Solo Leveling: Arise secured a somewhat unexpected victory in this category. While a well-received game, its narrative might not be universally considered its strongest aspect.
Best Indie Game: Yes, Your Grace, developed by Brave at Night and published by Noodlecake, won the Best Indie title. This mobile port of the popular 2020 PC RPG has quickly gained traction.
Best Ongoing Game: Honkai: Star Rail continues to be a fan favorite, securing the Best Ongoing award due to its consistent updates and substantial content additions.
Best for Families: Tab Time World by Kids at Play won this category.
Best Play Pass Game: Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance was the winner for Google Play Pass subscribers.
Best Google Play Games on PC: Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures took home the award.
