The Xbox Game Pass catalog typically sees games removed mid-month and at the end of the month. The last removal happened on December 31st.
Six more games are leaving within the next 24 hours: Escape Academy, Those Who Remain, Exoprimal, Insurgency: Sandstorm, Figment: Journey Into the Mind, and Common'hood.
Half of the games leaving in this first wave of 2025 departures are multiplayer titles. Exoprimal and Insurgency: Sandstorm are multiplayer-only shooters; Escape Academy features a well-received co-op mode. Escape Academy also had the longest run on Xbox Game Pass, having been added in July 2022 as a day-one release.
Game removal times vary, but most leave near the end of the day. US subscribers have roughly 18 hours to play these games. This is ample time to complete titles like Figment: Journey Into the Mind or Those Who Remain. Console players should prioritize Escape Academy, but PC gamers can claim it for free on the Epic Games Store starting January 16th.
The next wave of removals is expected on January 31st, with announcements likely alongside the January 2025 Wave 2 lineup. This lineup includes day-one releases: Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, Eternal Strands, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, all arriving in the last 11 days of the month.
