Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090: 32GB GDDR7 Memory and 575W Power Draw - A CES 2025 Reveal

Leaked specifications suggest Nvidia's upcoming flagship graphics card, the RTX 5090, will pack a powerful punch. Sources indicate it will feature a massive 32GB of GDDR7 video memory—double that of the anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti—and a substantial 575W power draw. The official unveiling is slated for Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th.

The RTX 50 series, codenamed Blackwell, represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics card lineup, arriving over two years after the RTX 40 series launch. Building upon its predecessors, the RTX 50 series will leverage Tensor Cores for AI processing, and incorporate features like DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards). This new generation will succeed the RTX 40 series (which saw some models, such as the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070, discontinued) and compete directly with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.

Pre-CES leaks, originating from VideoCardz and showcasing Inno3D's iChill X3 RTX 5090, further solidified some of these specifications. This triple-fan card, occupying over three expansion slots, confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the hefty 575W power requirement—a significant jump from the RTX 4090's 450W.

The High Cost of High Performance

The RTX 5090's impressive specs come at a price. While Nvidia remains tight-lipped on pricing, industry speculation points to an MSRP starting at $1999 or higher. The RTX 50 series will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be provided.

The full RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti, will be revealed alongside the RTX 5090 during Nvidia's CES keynote on January 6th at 9:30 PM Eastern Time. The anticipation is high, and the market eagerly awaits consumer response to this next generation of graphics cards.
