World of Warcraft: Your Guide to Catching the Legendary Riding Turtle

World of Warcraft is a vast and competitive game, but certain rare in-game items, like the Riding Turtle mount, can set you apart. This unique mount signifies exceptional dedication and skill.

Acquiring the Riding Turtle involves redeeming random loot cards, a process significantly aided by a substantial amount of in-game gold. This guide will explain how to obtain this coveted mount.

Understanding the Riding Turtle

Recent WoW pre-update changes by Blizzard have allowed solo players to form groups, creating opportunities to obtain rare creatures like the Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle. We'll outline strategies for acquiring these collectibles and converting loot into gold. However, be aware that these methods might be adjusted by Blizzard in the future, so act quickly.

The Angler's Approach

Hidden within your garrison's waters lies a treasure. Alliance players seek Lunarfall Carp, while Horde players fish for Frostdeep Minnow at their fishing shack. Returning these fish to the lake summons the Lunarfall Cavedweller or Frostdeep Cavedweller, respectively, which can drop the Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle mounts.

Before embarking on this fishing expedition, you'll need the Draenor Angler achievement (catching 100 of each Enormous Fish species in Warlords of Draenor). This unlocks a level 3 garrison fishing shack, crucial for catching the carp and minnow. Even with the upgraded shack, the fish have a low (3%) drop rate; enhancing your gear and using powerful boosts can improve your odds.

Why Now's the Perfect Time

Previously, only the player who tagged the Cave Dweller received rewards, making it a tedious solo endeavor. The latest patch allows raid groups of up to 40 players to share the loot, making fishing more collaborative and rewarding.

The odds of obtaining rare mounts have drastically improved. The combined drop rate of the fish and Cave Dweller was previously extremely low. Now, with up to 40 players, your chances are greatly increased.

While you don't need the Draenor Angler achievement to join a raid, group leaders might prioritize players who can contribute by catching their own fish. Finding a welcoming group or forming your own is highly recommended given the potential rewards.
