Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE Leagues. We'll cover initiating Ritual events, key mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram and demonic face icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, multiple Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat waves or life-draining blood pools).

Interact with an Altar to initiate a wave of enemies. Remain within the designated circle; leaving it prematurely ends the event without rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

Confronting the King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

'An Audience With The King,' a unique currency item obtained through Favours, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness and the King in the Mists fight. Slot this item into your Realmgate on the Atlas.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 counterpart. Practice is available in Freythorn (Act 1, Cruel difficulty). Defeating him awards 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree (accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree) enhances Ritual rewards. It's located in the bottom right of the Atlas tree and features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each King in the Mists victory grants 2 skill points. Increased difficulty is mandatory for each new Notable node.

Notable Nodes and their Effects:

Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' initially. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for increased high-value Omen and King encounter chances.

Understanding and Utilizing Ritual Rewards

Completing Rituals grants Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed equals more Tribute and unlocked Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained via Favours.

Omens: Powerful items enhancing other Currency items (consumed upon use). Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy. These are highly valuable and can be traded for numerous high-value currencies.

Additional rewards include high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.) from slain enemies. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
