It seems that a leak has surfaced suggesting that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, might be available for free on PlayStation Plus in May 2025. Although Sony has yet to confirm this, the leaked key art hints at the possibility of Until Dawn Remastered being offered, rather than the original 2014 release. We'll keep you updated as soon as we have official confirmation.
PlayStation Plus is an essential online gaming service for PlayStation users, providing a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. It also offers a vast catalog of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members, while the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.
The speculation around Until Dawn being offered for free has been fueled by discussions on the PlayStation subreddit, with some suggesting it could be tied to the promotion of the recently released Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie received a lukewarm response from us, earning a 5/10 score in IGN's Until Dawn movie review, where we noted it as "more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."
Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn didn't fare much better, receiving the same score and being described as "overpriced and under-featured" in IGN's Until Dawn Remastered review. In contrast, the original 2015 game by Supermassive Games was more favorably received, achieving a 7.5/10 rating from us.
In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the service next month, including popular titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party games Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Notably, this means Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
