The journey of Daredevil: Born Again from script to screen involved numerous adjustments and rewrites, but interestingly, one episode remained entirely unchanged from its original form: Episode 5. Ironically, this particular instalment happens to be star Charlie Cox's personal least favorite of the entire season.
"I'm not sure if this is noteworthy, but I will mention that among all the changes, there was one episode we left completely intact," Cox revealed in a recent interview with The Playlist.
"It's the bank episode, which was part of our original shoot before the strike. That episode came from the initial draft, and personally, I wasn't a fan of it."
Cox told the outlet that he "pushed back against it as much as I felt was reasonable." The episode centers on his character, Matt Murdock (the hero Daredevil), who becomes trapped in a bank robbery while trying to secure a loan for the law firm he runs with partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
"That premise feels like a plot from a 1970s caper," Cox commented about his initial reaction. "With today's technology, that scheme wouldn't really work. I also didn't think the method used for the robbery was sophisticated enough."

However, the actor also conceded that, despite his own criticisms, the episode appears to be a hit with audiences.
"I really argued against that episode, and yet I keep hearing from so many people that they love it. It just shows you never can tell; it's all so subjective," Cox added. "Everyone's taste is different. I've heard it's one of the highest-rated episodes internally. According to Disney's metrics, it's one of their top-performing shows."
Our review team certainly agreed. In our Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6 review, we said: "The execution is superb. I can't recall the last time a Marvel series had me smiling so much throughout an episode and completely captivated from beginning to end. This chapter also accomplishes something crucial, especially given Daredevil's limited screen time: it highlights what makes Matt Murdock such a unique and compelling hero, even when he's not in his suit."
