Concord: A Detailed Look at the Post-Launch Roadmap and Gameplay
With Concord's launch on August 23rd rapidly approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled a comprehensive post-launch content roadmap. This article summarizes the key updates and offers gameplay strategies for success.

No Battle Pass, Meaningful Progression
Unlike many hero shooters, Concord eschews the traditional battle pass system. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, character leveling, and objective completion. This focus ensures a robust and engaging experience from day one.

Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)
Concord's first major update, "The Tempest," arrives in October, bringing:
- A new playable Freegunner.
- A brand-new map.
- Additional Freegunner Variants.
- Expanded cosmetics and rewards.
- Weekly Cinematic Vignettes enriching the Northstar crew storyline.
An in-game store will also launch with Season 1, offering purely cosmetic items that won't affect gameplay balance.

Season 2 and Beyond (January 2025)
Season 2 is planned for January 2025, signifying Firewalk Studios' commitment to consistent seasonal content drops throughout Concord's first year.
Gameplay Strategies and the Crew Builder System

Game director Ryan Ellis emphasizes the importance of the "Crew Builder" system for team composition. While each Custom Crew comprises five unique Freegunners, players can utilize up to three copies of any Freegunner Variant. This allows for strategic team customization based on playstyle, game mode, and match challenges.
Concord's Freegunners, unlike traditional "Tank" or "Support" roles, are designed for high DPS and effective gunfights. The six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—are defined by their match impact: area control, long-range advantage, flanking, etc. Balancing Freegunners from different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, recoil, cooldowns, and more.
