This 3-on-3 mode challenges teams to score a ball in their opponents' net. While the gameplay may evoke comparisons to Rocket League, it bears a stronger resemblance to Overwatch's Lucioball – a testament to the enduring appeal of this style of game.
This similarity is noteworthy, given Marvel Rivals' current trajectory. Having seemingly outpaced Overwatch in popularity, Marvel Rivals needs to establish a unique identity. Launching its biggest event with a mode so reminiscent of Overwatch's inaugural event is a curious choice. While the setting differs – Olympics for Overwatch, Chinese New Year for Marvel Rivals – the core gameplay remains strikingly similar.
