P-Studio Chief Promises Innovative Persona 4 Revival

Atlus officially unveiled Persona 4 Revival during yesterday's Xbox Game Showcase, confirming long-running rumors about a remake. However, reactions to the brief 40-second trailer proved mixed among fans.

Criticisms ranged from perceived shortcomings in visual quality - including graphics, color grading, animations, and lighting - to frustrations over missing details like a concrete release window or confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version.

"These graphics look like basic Unreal Engine assets," commented one player. "Honestly gives off fan project vibes (no offense)," prompting another to respond: "That was seriously underwhelming."

Given how poorly kept this remake's development had been, some speculate the teaser simply served as confirmation that the project exists.

"This feels like a 'fine, here you go' placeholder trailer," remarked one fan, while another added: "Seems thrown together last minute after the voice actors declined to return. I can picture the devs scrambling marketing to cobble something together overnight."

In response, P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada took to social media to reassure players that Atlus remains fully committed to the Persona series' future.

"We're thrilled to finally announce Persona 4 Revival," Wada stated. "As a beloved franchise spanning anime adaptations, fighting games like Persona 4 Arena, and rhythm titles including Dancing All Night, Persona 4 holds special significance for our team.

"We're pouring our hearts into this project, confident it will delight both newcomers and longtime fans alike when we're ready to share more."

Wada continued: "Beyond Revival, we're actively shaping the future of the Persona series. The team is working diligently to meet global fan expectations, with promising progress underway." He concluded by thanking supporters and teasing future announcements.

Our original Persona 4 review awarded a 9/10, praising its "significant improvements" over predecessors with deeper dungeon crawling and social mechanics. While Persona 4 Golden remains the definitive edition on modern platforms, fans continue requesting - unsuccessfully - for Nintendo Switch compatibility after years of demands.

Persona 4 Revival launches simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC with Game Pass availability. For full event coverage, see all Xbox Games Showcase June 2025 announcements.
