Housemarque unveiled Saros during February 2025's State of Play presentation. Launching on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro sometime in 2026, this new title builds upon the thrilling gameplay of their acclaimed 3rd-person action game, Returnal. The story centers around Arjun Devraj, portrayed by actor Rahul Kohli.
According to Housemarque's creative director, Gregoy Louden, Saros was conceived to allow Returnal to stand alone, establishing a separate IP that iterates on Returnal's narrative and mechanics. While Returnal offered a constantly shifting roguelike experience across dynamic biomes, Saros introduces persistent and evolving loadouts—weapons and suits—empowering players to "Come Back Stronger" and overcome challenges.
