Sonic Rumble, despite not having officially launched globally yet, has already introduced its first crossover event featuring some of SEGA's most iconic characters. Dubbed "Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars," this event runs until May 7th, just before the game’s worldwide debut on May 8th.
Currently in soft launch mode, Sonic Rumble is accessible in over 40 countries. Its initial rollout began during the pre-launch phase in summer 2024, covering areas such as the Philippines, Scandinavia, and Colombia. The second pre-launch phase extended availability to countries like Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, and South Africa.
For players in the regions that participated in the earlier soft launches, the SEGA Stars crossover offers a thrilling mix of nostalgia and excitement. The Altered Beast crew makes a comeback, allowing players to unlock the Werewolf transformation entirely free of charge.
Nostalgia enthusiasts will rejoice as the Werebear and Weredragon make their appearances. The Weredragon is tied to the Premium Pass, while the Werebear can be acquired using regular rings, depending on the region.
Fantasy Zone fans will appreciate the inclusion of Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa. Opa-Opa is part of the Premium Pass, whereas Upa-Upa can be obtained via fragments purchased with standard rings, each costing 700.
Additionally, AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball have joined the crossover. AiAi is available for 729 Red Star Rings, and you can preview the crossover event below.
Players can collect SEGA logos during matches to earn extra goodies. Although the event is live before the official global release, SEGA has confirmed that most of these pre-release rewards will reappear later.
This crossover dives deep into SEGA's rich history and current offerings, blending classic characters with modern gameplay. The combination of monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and transformed creatures interacting with Sonic and friends adds significant promise to the game.
