The upcoming live-action Street Fighter film from Legendary Pictures has reportedly cast Callina Liang as Chun-Li, the iconic fighting game character.
According to Deadline, Liang has officially signed on for the starring role, signaling steady progress toward the movie's planned March 20, 2026 release.
Liang launched her acting career in the 2022 series Tell Me Everything before appearing in Foundation (2023). Her recent credits include Steven Soderbergh's Presence and J.C. Lee's Bad Genius, both released in 2024.

The Street Fighter adaptation will introduce Liang to wider audiences as she embodies Chun-Li alongside previously announced cast members including Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. Other character castings and additional plot details remain under wraps.
Capcom and Legendary announced their new live-action Street Fighter project in April 2023, initially hiring Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou. However, creative differences led to the Philippou brothers departing the project a year later, citing scheduling conflicts.
Despite this setback, Legendary reaffirmed its commitment with a spring 2026 release date announcement in June 2024. The studio subsequently brought on director Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Twisted Metal) as the production continues adding cast members.
More details about Liang's portrayal of Chun-Li and the film's storyline will emerge as the premiere approaches. Meanwhile, Capcom's latest video game entry Street Fighter 6 recently surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide.
