Abylight Studios has joined forces with Frictional Games to bring an exciting lineup of horror games to the Nintendo Switch in 2025. This collaboration will see the release of SOMA, Amnesia: Rebirth, and Amnesia: The Bunker, introducing these chilling titles to a new audience on the Switch. Frictional Games, renowned for their contributions to the horror genre, have entrusted Abylight Studios with the task of porting these games, marking a significant expansion of horror gaming options for Switch players.
While Frictional Games is shifting its focus away from horror, their legacy within the genre remains strong, particularly with the Amnesia series. Fans eager for more horror experiences on the Nintendo Switch can look forward to exploring the unique narratives and terrifying atmospheres of these three titles. Each game offers distinct horror experiences: SOMA delves into sci-fi themes of artificial intelligence and human existence, Amnesia: Rebirth revisits the familiar gameplay elements of the Amnesia series, and Amnesia: The Bunker plunges players into the harrowing setting of World War 1.
In addition to the digital releases, Abylight Studios has confirmed that a physical edition of the Amnesia Collection for Nintendo Switch will be available later this year. The Amnesia Collection includes the critically acclaimed Amnesia: The Dark Descent and its sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, developed in collaboration with The Chinese Room. This physical edition is highly anticipated by fans who have been vocal about their desire for more horror titles on the Switch, although specific release dates for these ports have yet to be announced by either Abylight Studios or Frictional Games.
As the Nintendo Switch continues to embrace a broader range of genres, including mature-rated horror games, fans are eager to see what the future holds. Stay tuned for updates on the release dates of these Frictional Games titles on the Switch, as well as other developments in the horror gaming landscape.
