Fans of the iconic fighting game series have flocked back to Street Fighter 6 to test their skills with a fresh fighter. Capcom has thrilled the community by introducing Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series into their acclaimed game. As of December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6 boasts an impressive 4.4 million copies sold, and despite some fans feeling the game lacked content, the addition of Mai has revitalized the player base.
Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter introduced in the second season, significantly boosting the game's popularity. The day Mai was released saw a peak of over 63,000 concurrent players on Steam, a substantial leap from the previous peak of 24-27 thousand players, marking the highest concurrent player count since May 2024.
Players with a Battle Pass can unlock Mai Shiranui. In the World Tour mode, enthusiasts can forge relationships with Mai, master her moves, and then put their skills to the test in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been introduced for Mai.
The Battle Hub is also hosting a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned figure in the fighting game community. Players have the opportunity to experience his unique style until March 10. Alongside Mai's introduction, new Master League ranks and rewards have been added, enriching the competitive landscape of Street Fighter 6.
Capcom has released an exciting trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's dynamic techniques, further igniting the anticipation and engagement among the game's dedicated fanbase.
