ReFantazio Drops Major Content Update

Metaphor: ReFantazio receives a quality-of-life update. Patch 1.11 enhances menu navigation and squashes bugs.

Atlus has released update 1.11 for its critically acclaimed RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio. This update focuses on improving the user experience across all platforms, primarily through enhanced menu functionality. The game, released in October 2024, continues to enjoy phenomenal success, having sold a million copies on its first day and garnering widespread praise, including numerous Game of the Year awards and a perfect 100 score on OpenCritic.

The update introduces significant menu improvements. Players can now adjust battle formations and swap party members directly from the main menu and equipment screen. A new "jump to category" function on the item screen streamlines inventory management. PC players also benefit from several bug fixes addressing camera control, frame rate issues, and controller input problems.

While a sequel isn't currently in development, director Katsura Hashino expressed his hope to eventually expand Metaphor: ReFantazio into a full-fledged JRPG franchise, similar to Atlus's Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series. This statement fuels speculation, particularly given the company's recent success and the upcoming ninth anniversary of Persona 5. Many anticipate news regarding Persona 6 in 2025.
