Recent viral discussions about a secret multiplayer mode in Stellar Blade require clarification, according to the modder responsible for the discovery. PhantomSomnus, the player who initially shared split-screen gameplay footage, has provided context about their findings.
The Truth Behind the Multiplayer Discovery
The situation developed after PhantomSomnus demonstrated experimental split-screen functionality using Unreal Engine's native features - not Hidden multiplayer code created by developer Shift Up. This clarification comes amid widespread speculation sparked by viral social media posts.
PhantomSomnus addressed the misunderstanding directly: "Split-screen mode is built into Unreal Engine naturally. Shift Up didn't develop this - I simply enabled UE's local multiplayer support to test possibilities." The modder emphasized their unsuccessful attempt was purely experimental.
Actual Multiplayer Evidence Found
Despite clarifying the split-screen situation, PhantomSomnus confirmed finding remnants of an online-only multiplayer system during their investigations. Screenshots shared by the modder reveal inactive PvP menus and infrastructure left in the game's code.
"These appear to be abandoned online multiplayer features," PhantomSomnus noted, "but currently they're completely non-functional." When asked about potential future multiplayer implementations, the modder responded: "The chances seem extremely slim."
