Marvel Rivals' 30 FPS Damage Bug: A Fix on the Horizon

Players of Marvel Rivals using lower FPS settings have reported significantly reduced damage output for certain heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine. This 30 FPS bug impacts damage calculations, affecting gameplay for those on lower-end devices.

The developers have acknowledged this issue and are actively working on a solution. While a precise fix date isn't available, the upcoming Season 1 launch on January 11th is expected to address the problem, improving the overall gaming experience.

Launched in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals quickly gained popularity in the hero shooter genre. Despite initial concerns about hero balance, the game boasts an impressive 80% player approval rating based on over 132,000 Steam reviews.

The recently discovered 30 FPS glitch disproportionately affects heroes like Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine, reducing the effectiveness of their attacks at lower frame rates. A community manager confirmed the issue on the official Discord server, noting movement problems at lower frame rates impacting damage dealt. Although a complete fix may take time, the Season 1 update is planned to mitigate or resolve the issue.

Addressing the Marvel Rivals 30 FPS Damage Bug

The root cause appears to be linked to the game's client-side prediction mechanism, a common programming technique to minimize perceived lag. This mechanism, however, seems to be at the heart of the damage reduction problem.

While the affected heroes and abilities haven't been fully documented, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw are confirmed examples. The damage reduction is more noticeable against stationary targets. If Season 1 doesn't entirely resolve the issue, a subsequent update will address any remaining problems.
