Battlefield Labs: Shaping the Future of Battlefield Through Community Collaboration
Battlefield Studios, in partnership with Electronic Arts (EA), has launched Battlefield Labs, a revolutionary platform designed to foster collaboration between players and developers in shaping the future of the Battlefield franchise. Announced on February 3, 2025, this initiative marks a pivotal moment, allowing players unprecedented influence on the development process.

A New Era of Player Involvement
The upcoming Battlefield game is entering a crucial development phase, and Battlefield Studios recognizes the invaluable contribution of community feedback. Players will be integral to the process, actively testing and providing feedback on new game mechanics and features.

An initial group of players from European and North American servers will be invited to participate in the first phase of Battlefield Labs. While a specific release date remains unannounced, interested individuals are encouraged to register their interest via [link removed - replace with actual link if available].
"This game holds immense potential," stated Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization. "Battlefield Labs empowers our teams to unlock that potential through pre-alpha testing."
While participation is initially limited, Battlefield Studios assures the wider community will receive regular updates throughout the testing phase. Future Battlefield titles will also incorporate this community collaboration model.
Battlefield Studios comprises DICE (creators of the Battlefield franchise), Ripple Effect, Motive (developers of Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space), and Criterion (renowned for racing games and contributions to various Battlefield installments).
Testing Core Gameplay Elements

Battlefield Labs will focus on testing key gameplay elements. The initial phase will concentrate on core combat, destruction, weapon balance, vehicle performance, gadget functionality, and map and mode design. This will include refining existing modes:

-
Conquest: Large-scale battles centered around capturing control points (flags). Teams compete to deplete the opponent's tickets.
-
Breakthrough: Asymmetrical warfare where attackers strive to capture sectors while defenders resist. A ticket system is also employed, with attackers regaining tickets upon sector capture.

The class system will also undergo refinement based on player feedback. Battlefield Studios emphasizes the importance of community input in achieving the perfect balance of form, function, and feel. While internal playtesting is rigorous, the studio believes player feedback will significantly enhance the development process.
